Opening of nominations for “Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025”

Government of India has opened nominations for the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) 2025. PBSA is the highest honour recognizing the contribution and achievements of Indian diaspora and is conferred by the President of India during the valedictory session of the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas (PBD) Convention held biennially. The next PBD Convention will be held in January 2025.

  1. PBSA is awarded to a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or an Organization established and run by a PIO/NRI who has made a significant contribution either overseas or in India, in one of the following fields:

For achievements abroad

  • Better understanding of India;
  • Support to India’s causes and concerns in a tangible way;
  • Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence;
  • Social and humanitarian causes India or abroad;
  • Welfare of the local Indian community;
  • Philanthropic and charitable work;
  • Eminence in one’s field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India’s prestige in the country of residence; or
  • Eminence in skills which has enhanced India’s prestige in that country (for nonprofessional workers).

For achievements within India

  • Philanthropic investments and charitable work in India;
  • For contribution made towards India’s development
  1. Diaspora members/organizations to either self-nominate themselves or nominate other individuals/organisation from diaspora for the award. Such nominations could be sent either to CGI Hamburg at hamburg@mea.gov.in or directly to Ministry at pbsaward@mea.gov.in at the earliest. Duly filled in nominations form along with the enclosures are attached.
