Persons who earlier held Indian citizenship and renounced the Indian citizenship on acquisition of foreign nationality are eligible to apply for OCI Card in this category.

The applicant must surrender/get converted (as applicable) all the original Indian Identity documents to the concerned issuing authority issued to him/her such as Voter ID Card, Aadhar Card, PAN Card etc. before made an application for OCI Card. 

PROCEDURE.

STEP-1. Apply online at https://ociservices.gov.in with uploading the appropriate size of photograph (PHOTO GUIDELINES), Signature (left hand thumb impression in case of minor) and the following documents:

• City Registration Certificate (Meldebescheinigung) of your current German address.

• Certificate for Renunciation of Indian Citizenship/Surrender of Indian Passport issued by Indian Embassy/Consulate/RPO (please check the procedure under Renunciation of Indian Citizenship/Surrender of Indian Passport).

• Last Indian passport (personal particular pages).

• Nationality Certificate (Einbuergerungsurkunde).

• Present foreign passport having validity more than 01 year.

• In case of Minor applicant, passports & marriage certificate of parents and duly filled Parental authorization. If parents are divorced or one of the parents has the custody of the child, divorce decree issued by the court, copy of passport and visa/ Aufenthaltstitel (Residence Permit) of the parent who has the custody of the child.

• Duly filled undertaking regarding surrendering of Indian Identity Documents.

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):

• Self-attested photocopies of the marriage certificate and spouse passport (In case spouse name is not mentioned in the last Indian Passport).

• In case change of name, duly attested Name change certificate issued by concerned government authority (please check the attestation procedure under Other Consular Services).

• In case of change in appearance - Declaration .

STEP-2. Book an appointment with the Consulate at https://www.cgihamburg.gov.in/get-appointment for verification of original documents.

STEP-3. Present the Originals of the requisite documents during the scheduled appointment along with the applicable fee of €254.00. Payment can be made either through bank transfer or in cash. The applicant is requested to include their Name, ARN, and Service Name when making the payment through bank transfer. If payment is made via bank transfer, please ensure it is completed 02 working days prior to your scheduled appointment. Consulate’s Bank account details can be checked here.

Please also submit one photograph of 51mm x 51mm and payment receipt if made through bank transfer.

After verification of the documents and after the application is found to be in order, the application will be acknowledged on the online system. Simultaneously, an auto email will be sent to the applicant informing “Application received and is under process”.

STEP-4. Follow the application status at https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury . Once the application is granted, an eOCI Card can be downloaded from https://ociservices.gov.in. The holder may travel to India using the eOCI Card and valid passport having validity more than 06 months.

ADVISORY.

• Applicants are advised to fill the application carefully and provide the correct information as discrepancies may result in delay/rejection of application.

• Normal time processing of the application is 04-06 weeks.
