Foreign nationals can also prepare the PoA on a plain paper with the help of any lawyer/legal expert.

However, before submitting it to the Consulate, the PoA is mandatorily required to be notarized and attested by the district Court in the states of Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) before attestation by the Consulate.

 Letter pertaining to shipment of mortal remains.

 Original Indian Passport of the deceased

 If required any other extra document can be requested by the consulate.

 Request letter from a member of the family.

 Copy of International Death Certificate issued by the local authorities (with Certified English translation).

 Copy of Cremation Certificate issued by Cremation center (with certified English translation).

 Copy of Letter from Cremation Centre stating that box contains only ashes as per international norms (with certified English translation).

 Copy of Indian passport/PIO/OCI card of the deceased.
